The New/Early Career Seminar is the first in a series of three seminars part of the newly revamped RetireStrong Education Program. These seminars are designed to educate you about your benefits at different stages of your career.

If you’re a new employee–or you’re early in your career and not vested–this seminar is for you. However, everyone is welcome.
Why should you attend the New/Early Career Seminar?
Even though retirement may be the furthest thing from your mind it’s important to understand how your DERP Pension Benefit works and the steps you need to take now to keep your retirement on track. From understanding your contributions and setting up your MyDERP.org account, to the importance of naming a beneficiary, you have an important role to play today to ensure for a secure retirement future tomorrow.
What will you learn at the New/Early Career Seminar?
We’ll go over what it means to be a DERP member and the value of vesting. We’ll explain your DERP Pension Benefit and how it works, and the range of DERP Plus Benefits available while you’re employed and after you’ve retired. You’ll learn the steps you need to take now to ensure a secure retirement future tomorrow, and the support services available to you.

When: Thursday, June 16
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Where: Virtual Teams Meeting
Don’t worry if you can’t attend the meeting, we’ll offer it throughout the year, virtually and in person at various sites throughout the city.
